On having weather
That’s an odd thing to say...we’re having some weather today. That’s like saying he has a temperature. Of course he has a temperature. There’s no such thing as an absence of temperature. If he’s hotter than normal, he would have a fever. If we have an absence of weather, we must be in the deep confines of space. We don’t. We most likely have other than sunny weather, like rain or snow.
Yes, we are having some weather today.
Snowy weather. It started at about 3:30 this morning and snowed until noon. Then after a brief break, it’s come back and I suspect we’ll have it continuing to pile up for most of the evening.
A snowy pile up in Puget Sound means that we have maybe 3” on the ground. Drifts are around 6”. We have mighty lame snow storms here, I mean comparatively speaking. If you listen to our newscasts you would believe that we need to hunker down and consider eating the family dog for dinner.
When I lived on Pine Mountain as part of an observatory team, we were snowed in in a big way and we had to wait a week for the utility crews to bring their big snow cat up to “save us”. That was the week I chose to read The Shining. Not good timing, that’s for sure. Anyway, my point is that I know big snow. We don’t have big snow.
I hope we get more. I like snow, even the big stuff.
