I spent about two hours today looking up unclaimed property stores in the three states in which I’ve lived. I looked up the names of every family member that came to mind and counting my own immediate family...who by the way has nothing owed to it, I found a total of $2,456.88.
Yahoo! Too bad there’s no finder fee for family.
If you want to seek anything moldering away without you, go to each state’s “unclaimed property” site. Each site has a different set up (Oregon’s is really horrible) and claim process so make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Search under your last name(s) and first name then last name and first initial of your first name. Spell names wrong too. My name is Karan, so I looked up Karen as well...with the same result, but there was that chance. That ought to get you close enough to make your heart jump for just a minute.
