The rest of it is true - mostly - and all of it is my own.

Cell phone story - looking across Willapa Bay to the Pacific
Looking across Willapa Bay to the Pacific, May 2010
I took this picture from my hotel balcony. The bay is
no farther than 100 feet from my room...good for a
view and all those watery wonders that draw people
to it....bad if you teach folks about disaster recovery
and know all about tsunami waves. Too much
awareness creeps into the quietest of minds and
interferes with the enjoyment. No matter...it was
postcard weather and the beauty warmed my heart.
The standard backyard shot. We had
almost 24 hours with no snow during
which time, Leonard clearned the drive-
way “apron”, shoved off all the snow
on the cars and packed down the
driveway although not in that particular
order because otherwise, well, it
would just be silly. Notice that the
cars have new snow on them now.
Wasted effort that.
The icicles continue to grow and soon enough I
expect them to poke through the roof and wreck
our TV room. As before, click the pic for a giant view.
Notice how the image is bigger now? That’s
because I finally figured out how to reset the
resolution on my cell phone. Yay me. She’s
trainable.
I finally found my red tread soled shoes...now I only slip
every other step. (and just because I accidently did
it...and for the sake of art… click the picture for a
negative image)
The icicles are growing as the melt returns. I’m hoping
to see a full roof to ground icicle by week’s end!
(click the picture for that larger, slightly blurry,
yellow circled version)
If you come to our house don’t eat any yellow snow within
3 dog steps of any door. Don’t worry about the snow
beyond those 3 steps because the dog won’t go out any
further. Don’t even think about the brown snow. (and
I did it again...click the picture for more art)
Leonard started little tunnels to the places we need to be.
It’s like the gophers make except with no top and no dirt
and no gophers, but we get where we need to be (usually
access to a car) without getting our lower legs covered in
snow. (and I did it again...click the picture for for more
art)
The trees on our long driveway are bending deeply under
the loaded weight of the snow. It’s very cool to see but alas,
it is now impassable. Got clippers? (and I did it again…
click the picture for even more art)
My car has become a giant marshmallow. Now if only I had
some rice krispies...sorry no negative image here...who
wants to see a black marshmallow? Not me.
I took this photo just after the power went off. Take a
look at the icicles all down stalagtitish on the second
floor eaves off the dormers (if you click on the image,
you’ll be whisked to a larger image with some subtle
guides to point them out to the curious). I know it’s
hard to see, but it is proof that at one point we zoomed
toward some sort of meltdown point.
We’ve since then zoomed right back down. It’s currently
29ºF and still snowing. I strongly suspect the snow will
still be there when we awake tomorrow.
